Yes, I'm freaking out
On publishing my new novel and sharing the stories that deeply move me
My second novel, Shaken to the Core, releases later this month. I’ve officially hit the point where I’m freaking out. I’m not sleeping well. I’m worried that I am missing tasks I should be doing. And I’m also a bit overwhelmed by all of the pre-launch frenzy. And simultaneously grateful for the heartfelt, amazing early reviews.
So I’m basically feeling all the feels imaginable.
I love every part of the publishing process. From creating characters to writing the story and then the exhilarating (and mildly terrifying) moment my book is in the world.
Earlier this week, I awoke feeling as if I’d been infused with espresso—buzzy, energized, and jittery. Here is an update from my morning walk:
I’m getting ready for the book tour, and in my excitement, I published a calendar with the wrong date. The Winnetka, IL date should be July 22nd.
Here is the correct graphic:
So, you know, please pre-order Shaken to the Core! Preorders are so important for authors. It tells publishers and bookstores there’s interest in the book (and helps authors hit lists to reach more readers!).
I’ve been having fun with the launch madness while focusing on the themes I love to explore in my writing. The other day, I shared a new mini-campaign on my Instagram: SIGNS OF HOPE.
We all needs moments of hope, and they arrive in our lives if our hearts are open. I often reference these as visits or signs. Do you relate? Maybe it’s an anniversary. Perhaps it’s when honoring a loved one who’s died. Or during a life transition.
Rainbows are one sign that have shown up in my life again and again when I’ve needed them most. When I’ve needed to feel hope. When feeling uncertain about pivoting professionally or personally. When celebrating a milestone or cherishing a memory. This one appeared, and for just a few minutes, at the end of my birthday. A hug from above. 🌈
I know others have these symbols of hope—ladybugs, birds, butterflies, and more.

Monarch butterflies are a sign from my dad, and my uncle will show me orange Volkswagen Beetles.
Exciting times!
